Subiaco, Western Australia

Subiaco is an inner city suburb located 3 kilometres to the west of Perth, Western Australia.

Visitors can stroll through Kings Park to enjoy the flora and fauna of the native bushland, or savor the cosmopolitan fashion, food and coffee along Hay Street, where Subiaco has one of Western Australia’s finest fashion and restaurant scenes. There is a wide array of cuisines with which to pamper yourself after an exciting day of shopping.

Off the main road narrow leafy streets lead to beautifully restored homes. Visit the Subiaco Museum to see memorabilia from the early settlement of the area by Benedictine monks during the 19th century, plus examples of local Aboriginal culture.

The University of Western Australia is located nearby and natural beauty of the Swan River can be explored at Matilda Bay.

The Regal Theatre and the Subiaco Theatre Centre are the two professional performing arts centres where one can catch a show.

Subiaco Oval is the premier home of Western Australian football, plus also hosts the National Soccer League games and world rugby matches.

Indoor and outdoor markets are located on either side of the railway line, with a wide range of handicrafts, antiques, homewards and souvenirs for sale.

The many fine restaurants, cafes and bars provide for tastes ranging from innovative local cuisine, Asian and European to popular fast food.

Most visitors stay in accommodation located in central Perth or West Perth and make the day trip to Subiaco either by train, car, bus or on foot.
